Being client directed, mutual exchange is an integral part of the therapeutic process.  By working together, you'll create a vision of how you would like life to be. An important part of our process is revising thoughts, feelings and behaviors necessary to make this vision a reality.

We provide:
  • Individual therapy for adults and children

  • Family therapy

  • Couples therapy

  • Pre and post adoption support

  • Social Sense Program

  • Workshops and training for schools and organizations

  • Planning, placement and team (PPT) meeting support

  • Support groups for adopted children and parents

  • Public speaking/seminars

Therapy for adults and children suffering from anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD) and depression are treated with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), considered the "Blue Ribbon" intervention for these illnesses.

Other issues that children may have, such as adoption identity issues, impulsivity and social skills deficits, are treated with both CBT and play therapy. In our therapy work, we often incorporate watching portions of contemporary movies that children are familiar with, to visually learn appropriate social skills.

Parents are an integral part of all therapy sessions for children.  We encourage you to participate in a majority of the sessions. By talking with you before or after each session, you'll be fully updated on the therapy. If your child is too anxious for this to happen at the time of their visit, we can arrange telephone time to review.

Social Sense™ Program

We know that the key to a person's success in life is critically impacted by his or her social skills, even more so than by academic intelligence, according to a Harvard Graduate School of Education Study, 1998.

With this in mind, we designed our Social SenseTM Program. The sessions are meant to be fun and informative, utilizing a variety of videos, role-plays, games and exercises to teach and reinforce concepts. This multi-modal approach helps children apply the information and concepts outside of the sessions.

The Social Sense Program has four "Social Missions."

  1. Friendship formation and maintenance

  2. Conflict resolution

  3. Collaboration and team work

  4. Self marketing - ability to maintain a good public image and "sell yourself" to others appropriately

The Social Sense Program is especially appropriate for children with Learning Disabilities.
